For Veterinary Surgeons wishing to refer a patient for Diagnostic Imaging :

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Referral

• Spinal Imaging for surgical decompression of intervertebral disc pathology
• Neurocranial Imaging with Gadolinium contrast enhancement where indicated
• Splanchnocranial imaging for complex pathology of the nasal cavity, orbit, middle and inner ear

All patients receive a full neurological assessment before imaging

CSF sampling is performed where this is indicated

Computed Tomography Referral

• Whole body CT for investigation of possible metastatic spread of tumours
• Thoracic CT for investigation of refractory lung conditions
• Abdominal and Intrapelvic CT: Pancreas; Adrenal; Prostate; Urinary Tract
• Musculoskeletal imaging including Carpus/ Tarsus
• Soft Tissue CT to guide complex tumour excision

Ultrasonography Referral

• Cardiac Ultrasonography with objective functional measurement to guide therapy
• Ocular Ultrasonography to assess lens and posterior chamber pathology
• Abdominal Ultrasonography with tissue core biopsy sampling as indicated
• Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography to assess Bicipital tendonitis/ Achilles Tendon tears

Endoscopy Referral

• Gastroscopy with endoscopic sampling
• Bronchoscopy with BAL sampling
• Colonoscopy
